My "why" really started when I met my godfather in the Philippines on January 13, 2024. Yeah, he has the private jet, the helicopter, the fleet of supercars, everything you can think of, he's got it. But that's not what stuck with me. What stuck was how he used his success. He took his high school friends to his private resort and just treated us. I quite literally saw everyone go back in time and just be kids again. For that week, it felt like he provided a bubble where all their problems went away. That's the effect I want to have on the people around me.

At the same time, I saw the other side. When we visited my grandma, she asked my dad how long we were staying. He said two weeks because "Uncle Sam needed him back," and that hit me, because I could never look at my mom and say, "I can only spend two weeks out of the whole year with you." Life moves too fast, and I already learned that the hard way when I lost my grandmother to pancreatic cancer when I was 17.

So no, I don't have some grand story for how Essavo started. It came from one simple idea. I realized most people don't ever live the life of their dreams, not because they're lazy, but because they never had the guts to even try.
